Lose the Age Spots Fast

By Elen Hanszen

We all want smooth, unblemished skin and this feeling increases as we grow old and start seeing signs of aging such as fine lines, wrinkles and age spots. As the signs of aging become more noticeable, a person can start to have less confidence in their appearance. A skin peel is a good solution for those who are having issues that are a result of their aging appearance.

A remedy that has a significant effect in order to revive a more youthful skin appearance is a chemical skin peel. Your face will have less obvious signs of age on it, such as fine lines and wrinkles. The outermost part of your skin sometimes has an accumulation of dead skin cells, and a skin peel will remove these, reducing wrinkles and making it appear brighter.

If you have blemishes on your skin such as large freckles, age spots or liver spots, the use of a reliable and effective skin peel will help to reduce the appearance of these spots. Your skin will become smooth and supple with the use of chemical peels giving you a younger look. For those who have had minor or major issues with acne, a chemical peel; inflammation will be reduced, and acne will be less prominent.

Chemical peels are a one day process, with options for touch ups, but a product for skin like a cream or lotion will have to be used for a long period of time, with multiple daily usage required. Also the procedures aren't as drastic, invasive and permanent as some plastic surgery techniques. Chemical peels are much more than subtle adjustments to skin moisture levels or promises to strengthen collagen like some over the counter creams offer.

A peel does what it sounds like; the outermost layers of facial skin are peeled away, promoting new skin growth, and showing the fresher, newer looking skin on top. As newer skin grows to replace the top layers, lines and blemishes will become more difficult to see underneath the fresh skin.

During the whole process and pre and post procedure, there is no need for pain management because a chemical peel does not cause pain to patients. For many, six superficial chemical peels are optimal, every week or 2, until the desired effect is achieved. A peel has very minimal risk when it is more superficial. For a few days after a skin peel, the side effects are still noticeable. In certain cases, skin can take on a slightly different colour after the process, and hyperpigmentation has been reported as well. Pigmenting capability of the skin can be reduced when deep skin peels are chosen, at times.

Maintenance is required for all kinds of skin peels afterwards, by using moisturizer, and frequent cleaning that will make skin heal faster and more smoothly, and prevent problems such as infection. Sunscreen is also another recommendation that physicians will usually give a patient before having a skin peel.
